The much-anticipated clash with Stevens & Bolton finally arrived – and while Citywide cricketing glory will have to wait another year, we didn’t go down without a fight (and plenty of laughs).
The rain kindly stayed away, so there were no excuses on the performance front. Despite our best efforts, the scoreboard wasn’t exactly in our favour by the end – but victory comes in many forms, right?
Highlights of the day included Simon providing the comedy with a spectacular tumble (we’re debating whether to book him diving lessons), and the revelation that our new member, Max Wynne, has been secretly harbouring some serious cricketing talent. “Rookie of the Year” is his without question.
After the final ball, we did what we do best: swapped bats for beers, tucked into pizza, and made sure the post-match celebrations were worthy of champions. If nothing else, we’ve proved two things – cricket is harder than it looks, and Citywide’s team spirit is impossible to beat.
